Mattima Films at Dok.Incubator

I’ve been working for over ten years on Diagnonsense, and even though I am passionate about the social issue the film comments on, it is not easy to keep the fire burning after so many years. But the collaboration with Øyvind, Stephanie, Truls, Judith, and Andrew over the past three years has been essential for the project. Filmmaking is the most collaborative art form!

In January 2020 we were accepted to the Dok.Incubator program with Diagnonsense, and the whole team was able to participate. Due to covid restrictions, the editor Stéphanie Morin and I took the editing room on a road trip to France to meet up with Audrey Maurion, our Dok Incubator editing consultant. While in France I talked to the Norwegian film magazine Rushprint, who wrote about how our upcoming film challenges the established structures within mental health care.

The producers, Øyvind and Andrew, were troopers as they developed the film’s strategy during the three sessions of the incubator workshop, which has helped prepare us for our final round of funding with the Norwegian Film Institute. We hope to be in production later this year, with a goal of premiering the film in the first quarter of 2022.
